I feel that the blog as an idea is a great tool to make the students actually think about the class work outside the classroom. Writing about assignments after completing them made me analyze the activities and try to understand the importance they had in the learning process, and how they actually related to the class material, because during the activities I focused more on completing whatever the goal was and did not concentrate much on the relation between the assignment and their connection to the class material. It also helped me remember the class and the activities that we did.
In a regular classroom setting we don’t get the opportunity to meet all of our classmates, we usually just get to talk to a small portion of the class often it the students that sit in the area. Blog on the other hand gives us the opportunity to meet(in a way) all of our class mates and gives us the opportunity to share opinions and communicate amongst each other very easily.
Even though I haven’t submitted everything on time I still feel that the blog should definitely be a part of this class because apart from being helpful with the material it gives students a great opportunity to get 20% of their grade just by basically coming to class and sharing their opinion and thought about it with others, which I feel is almost like a gift, and I regret for not using it to the fullest extent.
Honestly I do not think that I will continue posting on this blog mainly because of my schedule, but also because I am still haven’t realized the true value of it, I can see that blog can be very useful in many ways but unfortunately for me I still do not see myself communicating and sharing my thoughts in this way, I am hoping that my opinion will change in the future. In conclusion I really enjoyed the blogs and I feel that they are an excellent idea and a creative tool all students should get an opportunity to experience at some point.
I agree with in every think that you say. I think that the blog was very helpful. This was a great way to learn the material and to remember what we did in class . I think that the blog was a a great opportunity to fix the grade.
ReplyDeleteI understand that it is difficult to maintain a blog due to schedule constraints. Blogging can be time consuming and I sometimes have difficulty writing down my thoughts. I also agree that blogging is not my first choice of communicating with people. I'd rather do face-to-face interaction rather than blogging. But in a class as huge as ours, I feel that blogging is an effective way to get our ideas across other students and the professor.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should continue to blog. It's a new and different way to communicate with people that you dont even know. It is effective in every aspect. I will continue to blog and maybe see other people's blogs. I want to read about new topics. Mangament, art. culture. I realized that a lot of people blog and express their ideas on line. Bloging was a new experience for me that I will continue to follow.
ReplyDeleteI guess blogging can be time consuming. I know I might throw a post on my blog just because I feel like getting something off my head. I guess for myself following the economy which I like to do, writing journal entries will help me keep up to date with new events. Touching your point that the 20% participation grade is a gift, I can honestly say that a lot of this grading policy we are all obtaining from pro. K is very generous indeed. I don't want to call it a gift because nothing is really a gift in my eyes. Good luck with everything.
ReplyDeleteI too cannot see myself sharing my thoughts and ideas through blogging. Especially in a classroom setting. Schools should focus on bringing their students together, not separating them through the internet.
